The Powers Chargers (11-2) encountered a back-to-back loss on Wednesday evening to the undefeated (14-0) White Lake Lakeland Eagles. Sometimes you never really know how good a team is until the puck is dropped. With the variance in divisions and conferences, records and rankings can be misleading. That is why the games are played.

Not too much transpired in the first period other than the Chargers dominating puck possession in the Eagles defensive zone. Both teams had a few opportunities but nothing too threatening. This game also signaled consecutive scoreless first periods. The Chargers started off the 2nd period exhausting Andrew Parmentier’s tripping penalty. Goaltender Nicholas Kurtiak got peppered in a series of Eagle attempts, but Kurtiak kept the biscuit out of the net until the 9:34 mark. At that time, the Eagles senior Luke Weinberger capitalized on a Charger neutral zone turnover, going in all alone slipping it by Kurtiak for his team leading 18th goal. Once again, the Chargers found themselves on the penalty kill, burning off a 3v5. Moments later, the Chargers entertained and succeeded on a power play of their own. Junior Nolan Berner evened up the contest with just over two minutes remaining on a snipe from the point, notching his 6th on the season (assists Barbour/Tucker).

At 10:03 of the 3rd, the Eagles were granted a gift, a cross ice pass that bounced off the chargers’ defender shin pad, resulting in the winning goal. To keep the lead within one, a relentless effort by sophomore Brody Neelands, hustled his tail back to deny another Eagles breakaway. The Eagles netminder Paul Baker deflected the Chargers immense pressure in the final minutes to stay undefeated at 15-0. Final:
