The Powers Chargers have shown no mercy on their opponents since bouncing back after game one. The Chargers (2-1) entertained and dominated the Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard Irish (2-1) in a Saturday afternoon engagement. The Irish compete in the Metro League-West conference with adversaries such as AA Pioneer, Riverview-Cabrini, Wyandotte-Roosevelt, Divine Child and Grosse IIe. With similar early season records, each club rolled up their sleeves.

Just over a minute into the first period of play, Chargers Andrew Burny slid the puck over to defensive partner Andon Harwood. Harwood then connected on a laser pass to senior Caleb Doll near center ice. Doll split the Irish defenders, sniping netminder Nate Kelly. The Chargers

tallied with the next two of the first period. At 6:10, sophomore Adrew Parmentier mailed a wrister through traffic landing in the back of the net. With two minutes remaining, assistant captain Brody Neelands made his initial presence known by sending the Irish forward airborne with a pounding hit along the boards. The clock ticking at 29 seconds, Neelands found senior Nolan Berner at the point, who then unleashed a slapper to bump the Charger lead 3-0.

The Lavoie brothers collaborated bringing total disruption, exhausting the interference penalty of Chargers’ Burny. At 9:32, the Irish erased the Charger shutout with their lone goal off Blake Zloto’s trapper. During the ensuing Irish penalty, the combination of Cook to Parmentier to the redirect of Sly raised the Chargers 4-1. A very selfless play developed when Burny entered the Irish zone, he intently turned and passed back to Doll. Doll went top shelf without hesitation, netting his second of the contest and team leading fourth of the young season. Momentarily, Chargers sophomore Logan Nanny rang the biscuit off the crossbar before the second period concluded.

Senior goaltender Gavin Stutts-Miller led the Chargers between the posts into the 3rd period. At the 11:09 mark, Dru Wendlend found Neelands, who dispatched a strong snapper from the perimeter into the upper right corner. Wrapping up the afternoon of pure domination, Doll cycled the Irish net dishing the puck out to sophomore Harwood. Harwood launched a missile to the back of the twine bagging his first varsity goal of his high school career.
