Wednesday evening the Powers Chargers (3-1) faced off against the Mid-Michigan Raptors (1-2) in an SVL conference meeting. The SVL doesn’t appear to have as much parity this season as the Chargers continued to separate themselves in the “Goals For” category at 31.

The point distribution on the Charger squad has been impressive in just the first five games. The contest vs the Raptors Wednesday evening resulted in ten different Chargers getting onto the scoresheet with four being defenseman. Both Parker Bendall (sophomore) and Ethan Haley (freshman) recorded their first varsity goals. These two individuals also have a skill set not seen too much in today’s style of high school hockey. They will stand you up in a heartbeat or throw an unexpected hip check your way. Keep your head up ;).

The Raptors caught the Chargers off guard at the 16:43 mark of the first period, when Joaquin Jackson sauced a wrister from the blue-line beating the screened goaltender Gavin Stutts-Miller.

At 15:55, Andrew Parmentier tied it up on a short side stuff on Raptor’s netminder Ethan Leaman. Two minutes later, junior Landon Miller had a nice attempt letting loose a snapper but was gloved by Leaman. The dominos started to fall as the Chargers bagged six more goals before the period concluded by: Nolan Berner, Brendan Sly, Gavin Vorwerk, Andon Harwood, Ethan Haley and Brody Neelands. The Raptors managed to force a turnover to steal their second and last goal of the night.

Caleb Doll cemented the only Charger goal of the second period giving him his 5th on the season. Parker Bendall and Ayden Cook finished off the Panthers in the third period to complete the mercy. Netminder Gavin Stutts-Miller earned his first victory between the posts as a varsity player.
