The Powers Chargers skated across town to stay unbeaten in the Saginaw Valley Conference Wednesday evening. The 10-4 Chargers were the visiting team playing in the home rink Crystal Field House of the Grand Blanc Bobcats ( 7-7). It had been nearly three years since the two programs squared up.

The Powers dominance did not take long to surface as the Chargers chipped in three goals in the first period and seven in the second period to end the contest early. At 14:35 of the first period, Brendan Sly found linemate Caleb Doll zipping into the Bobcat zone, where he would snipe netminder Carson Balow. Moments later on the power play, Sly picked up his first of two on the night from Parker Bendall and Andrew Parmentier. Then the strong sophomore Andon Harwood let loose a long range snapper off the crossbar. At 4:37, Bendall made it 3-0 deking his way, unassisted past netminder Balow.

Despite the disparity in talent and depth between the two squads, the Bobcats sustained energy through the entire two period game. At 15:46 of the second period, junior Andrew Burny snapped his dependable wrister from the point, dropping it behind Balow bumping the lead 4-0. The Bobcats were determined and anxious to get a crack at the Chargers goaltender Gavin Stutts-Miller. At 15:13 mark, the Bobcats snapped the shutout by capitalizing on a turnover in the Charger D zone by senior Brendan Lavery. Just two minutes later, Sly put back a Balow rebound to make it 5-1. Most would agree the highlight of the night came at 8:35, when Vorwerk dished to Logan Nanney, and then Nanney buried it, recording his first varsity goal in the Powers uniform. The dominos continued to fall against the Bobcats. Sophomore Ayden Cook struck with back to back goals lifting the Chargers 8-1 (helpers Burny/Vorwerk/Bendall). Senior Caleb Doll played strong, netting the last two goals of the evening, giving him the hat trick. Stutts-Miller earned his 3rd win between the pipes.
