At the start of the second period, Flint Powers Catholic's Mike Forman, Connor Owen and Garrett Gormley scored within 1:13 of each other to help the Chargers go 5-0 in that period and defeat Grand Blanc 8-0.

"It made it tough for them to recover," Powers coach Travis Perry said. "We wanted to establish more of a presence on the fore-check and we were able to force some turnovers."

All eight goals were scored by different player. Additional scorers were: Dan Delong, Jeff Palakowski, Spencer Owen, Derek Simon and Stefan Cramer.

"That's what you like to see as a coach," Perry said.

Powers had 35 shots on goal and Grand Blanc had 12.

"They didn't give us any chances," Grand Blanc coach Ryan Byarski said. "They controlled the play."
