Garrett Gormley has always stood out as a pure goal scorer, but the Powers Catholic senior forward was much more than that for eighth-year Chargers coach Travis Perry.

"He's been the best leader that we've had since I've been here," Perry said of Gormley. "He was a true leader on and off the ice, so that's what he brought the team this year more than anything."

Gormley, who earned first-team all-state honors for the second year in a row, led Powers to its seventh consecutive regional title in 2014 and paced the team in scoring with 28 goals and 59 points. He registered a pair of hat tricks and scored a point in 26 of 28 games, which Perry said was a rare accomplishment.

“I've had a lot of great players since I've been coach, but he's been one of the best scorers we've had,” Perry said. “If he gets the puck and he's around the net, it's going to go in.”
