The Flint Powers Catholic hockey team scored two goals in the second period, on its way to a 4-1 win over host Saginaw Heritage on Wednesday.

Jeff Polakowski scored one goal and added two assists to lead Powers Catholic (14-5), while Mike Forman added one goal and one assist.

Austin Kane made 29 saves on 30 shots to record the win.

"We had a tough January, but we finally put together a complete game," Powers Catholic coach Travis Perry said. "We were able to roll out four lines and go five deep. Our third goal was huge because it gave us some breathing room. It came off a 3-2 breakout from our net. Jeff (Polakowski) made a great pass to Mike (Forman), who's our leading goal scorer. When you get Forman the puck in the right spot, I like our odds."

London Bonenfant scored one goal to lead Heritage (10-8), while goalkeeper Devin Wolfgangmade 22 saves on 26 shots.

"They scored two goals in the last minute of the second period off of bad mistakes by us," Heritage coach J.J. Bamberger said. "Having one goal scored is a back breaker, but two goals, it just really hurt us. We scored the first shift of the third period to make it 3-1. If we didn't have those two breakdowns, that would have tied the game at one."
