St. Mary Catholic Central High School played host to the Powers Catholic Chargers last night at the Monroe Multi-Sports Complex. Powers Sophomore Cam Lieffers opened the scoring at 15:08 with assists from Juniors Garrett Johnson and Brendan Smith. Falcons Junior goalie Lucas Collins stood on his head for much of the 1st period and the first half of the 2nd before the floodgates opened at 11:28 when Junior forward Chase Knoblock scored the first of his two goals with an assist from Junior forward Jon Thomas.

Thereafter, Powers took advantage of the Falcons short bench. Junior forward Conor Witherspoon found the back of the net at 10:19 despite being pummeled near the crease. Mason Weiss and Brendan Smith assisted. Knoblock scored his second goal of the game at 7:16 with assists from Garrett Johnson and Brendan Smith, their second helpers. At 5:14, Mason Weiss lit the lamp for his second with assists from Smith (Playmaker) and Witherspoon. 28 seconds later, Senior defenseman Brendan Walker unleashed a rocket from the point that eluded the Falcons goalie. He was assisted by Junior defenseman Jake Polakowski and Jon Thomas. Exactly one minute later, Mason Weiss checked in again for his second goal of the game. Weiss was assisted by Witherspoon and Junior forward Noah Reeser. Junior defenseman Hans Hering completed the scoring for Powers at 1:39 of the third with support from Cam Lieffers. Senior goalie Patrick Hoedeman stood tall in the net for the shut out. Powers plays host to unbeaten division rival Chelsea on Saturday at the Crystal Fieldhouse.
