POWERS CATHOLIC AVENGES 2020 REGIONAL FINAL LOSS

The Powers Catholic Chargers opened up their 2021 varsity hockey season hosting Midland Dow at Iceland arena. The game, a rematch from last years Regional Final.

The teams played a scoreless first period before Midland Dow struck first in the second period. The Chargers tied the score on a power plat at 14:10 of the second period. Sophomore Mason Czarnecki blasted a one timer from Senior Tyler Lawrence for his first career high school goal.

The Chargers wasted no time taking the lead as Sophomore Brenden Tarpening put one past Collin Lemanski, the Midland Dow goalie just 25 seconds after the first goal. The play was started by aggressive forechecking by Sophomore forward Ryan Lemker who along with Sophomore Weston Reinig assisted on the eventual game winning goal.

The 3rd period featured the goaltenders as Sophomore Nick Kurtiak made several game saving stops to earn his first high school varsity win.

The condensed season continues Friday February 12, 2021 and Saturday February 12, 2021 as the Chargers look to build on the season opening win hosting Okemos and Saline at Iceland area.
