Powers Shutouts Okemos 8-0

The Powers Catholic Charger Hockey team entertained the Chiefs from Okemos Friday February 12th, 2021 at the frigid Iceland arena.

The Chargers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as Cooper Gerhardt scored his first varsity goal just 1:08 into the game. Nolan Berner assisted on the game opening goal. The Chargers continued to pressure Okemos but couldn’t put one past the Okemos goaltender until Gunner Birmingham scored at 14:30 of the first period. Luke Cramer netted the assist on the play. 43 seconds Jacques Lavrack closed out the scoring and the Chargers went to the locker room leading 3 to 0

The second period saw the Chargers score 4 goals 2 by Tyler Lawrence including a short handed goal. Westin Reinig and Trey Carlock assisting on Lawrence’s goals. Less than a minute after Lawrence’s 2nd goal, Trey Carlock scored to put the Chargers up 6 to 0. Cooper Gerhardt assisted on the goal. To cap off the scoring in the second period, Lavrack scored his second goal of the game and Gerhardt picked up his second assist of the game.

The Chargers ended the game 5 minutes and 47 seconds into the 3rd period when Brenden Tarpening scored from Eddie Barbieri and Lavrack. Peyton Lenger made 13 saves in goal for the Chargers for his first win as a Powers Charger.

The boys are back on the ice on Saturday welcoming the Hornets from Saline at 5:00 pm at Iceland arena.
