Powers Defeats Midland

The Powers Catholic Chargers improved their 2021 record to 7 wins and 0 losses against the Midland Chemics.

Mason Czarnecki scored the only goal in the 1st period for the Chargers 6:51 into the 1st period assisted by Trey Carlock and Tyler Lawrence.

The Chargers didn’t waste any time in the second period, Mason Czarnecki found the back of the net on a power play just 1:26 into the second taking a pass from Kyle Barbour. Tyler Lawrence also assisting on the power play goal. Tyler Lawrence made it 3 to 0 midway thru the second period. Trey Carlock picked up his second assist of the game and Jacques Lavarack also assisting on the goal. Marcus Pahl finished the scoring for the Chargers with 4:33 left in the 2nd period crashing the net and scoring on a rebound. Andrew Wurtz and Nolan Salayko picked up the assists on Pahl’s goal.

The Chargers continued their stellar defensive play backstopped by Goalies Nick Kurtiak and Peyton Lenger as the duo combined for the 5th shutout of the season stopping 13 shots.

Powers travels this weekend to face perennial state power houses Detroit Country Day and Livonia Stevenson this weekend.
