The Powers Catholic Chargers skated to the 8th win of year Wednesday hosting the Port Huron Northern Huskies after Mt. Pleasant had to forfeit their game with the Chargers. The Huskies, playing in the powerful MIHL, entered the game with a 7 and 2 record.

The game was scoreless until 10:55 of the 1st period until Jack Dawley sent a pass to Eddie Barbieri who put it past the Husky goaltender. The Chargers went to the locker room with a 1-0 lead.

The scoring continued early in the second for the Chargers as Tyler Lawrence won a faceoff deep in the Husky end and found Trey Carlock right in front of the net and buried the puck in the back of the net. Carlock then put the Chargers up 3 to 0 scoring his second goal of the game on the power play. Cooper Gerhardt and Lawrence assisting on the powerplay goal. Again, on the power play, Jacques Lavrack scored a power play goal with 6:10 remaining in the second putting the Chargers up 4 to 0. Cooper Gerhardt picked up his second assist of the game.

In the 3rd period, the Huskies scored at 6:22 to make it a 4 to 1 game and looked to mount a 3rd period comeback. That comeback was short lived as Tyler Lawrence with help from Mason Cznarecki, scored to make it 5 to 1 and seal the game for the Chargers. Nick Kurtiak, frustrated the potent Husky offense and made 22 saves for the game picking up his 6th win of the year.

The schedule continues Friday March 5th when the Chargers travel to Plymouth to face division 1 top ranked Detroit Catholic Central at USA arena.
