Powers Wins 2021 Saginaw Valley Conference Title

Powers Catholic welcomed the Bay City Wolves to Iceland arena Saturday night with the Saginaw Valley Conference title on the line. A win and the Chargers would claim their first league championship since 2017.

The Chargers wasted no time scoring, Jacques Lavrack lit the lamp just 13 seconds after the puck was dropped. The Chargers continued the pressure on the Wolves, Trey Carlock scored 48 seconds later followed by Mason Czarnecki 31 second after the Carlock goal. Before the seats could be warmed in the arena, the Chargers had a 3 to 0 lead. Goals by Weston Reinig, Cooper Gerhardt, Tyler Lawrence, Ryan Lemker and another by Mason Czarnecki followed and 8 minutes into the game, the Chargers had a 8 to 0 lead. Cooper Gerhard (2), Tyler Lawrence (2), Mason Czarnecki (2), Nolan Salayko, Marcus Pahl, KyleBarbour (2), Michael Tucker, Jacques Lavrack (2) and Trey Carlock (2) all assisting on the 8 first period goals.

In the second period the Chargers added their 9th goal as Jacques Lavrack went top shelf. Marcus Pahl drew his second assist of the game. The game was ended after 2 periods due to the mercy rule.

Peyton Lenger made 5 saves and picked up his 3rd victory of the year.

With the win, the Chargers improved their overall record to 11 and 3, but still have some work ahead, hosting Davison on Wednesday March 10th. It will be senior night at Iceland arena. With a win, the Chargers will finish undefeated in the league.
