Powers Defeats Davison 6-2

Most hockey players coaches and fans will tell you that as soon as the season schedule is released, they always look to see when you play your crosstown rival. For the Chargers, the game against Davison was the last regular season conference game. This fall after the schedule was released the waiting and anticipation began. Last night at Iceland arena, the Chargers finally got to play their crosstown rival. The Chargers already having clinched the league title, set their sights on finishing the league season undefeated by beating the Cardinals on senior night.

The night began with a celebration of seniors Tyler Lawrence and Marcus Pahl. Both players have played a big role on and off the ice during their time with Chargers.

The Chargers wasted no time scoring in the first period, Jacques Lavrack took a pass from Eddie Barbieri and beat the Davison goalie just minutes into the game to put the Chargers up 1 to 0. Nolan Berner also assisted on the goal. At 9:58 Lavrack put the Chargers up 2 to 0. Nolan Salayko and Westin Reinig drew the assist on the goal. The Chargers headed to the locker room with a 2 to zero lead.

The Chargers increased their lead to 3 to 0 just over a minute after the second period started on the power play when Mason Czarnecki banged one home. Cooper Gerhardt and Tyler Lawrence assisting on the power play goal. 4 minutes later the Cardinals cut the lead to 3 to 1. Lavrack increased the Charger lead to 4 to 1 just 27 seconds later completing a hat trick giving the Chargers more breathing room. Cooper Gerhardt netted his second assist of the game. Less than a minute after the Lavrack goal, Mason Czarnecki tipped in a shot by Tyler Lawrence to put the Chargers up 5 to 1. Davison scored scored their second goal of the game to cut the deficit to 3 goals. With 9:53 left in the second period, Ryam Lemker with assists from Nolan Berner and Nolan Salayko and the Chargers had a commanding 6 to 2 lead after 2 periods.

There was no scoring in the 3rd period and the final score was 6 to 2. Nick Kurtiak made 12 saves to give the Chargers a big win and bragging rights for the next year with their rival.
