The Powers Catholic Chargers welcomed county rival Fenton/Linden on Friday March 12th to Iceland arena to close out the 2021 regular season.

In the 1st period, both goaltenders were the show as neither team could find the back of the net and the teams went to the locker room tied 0 to 0.

The 2nd period continued much like the first with physical play. The Chargers finally scored at 9:01 of the second period, as Jacques Lavrack fired a wrist shot just under the crossbar to give the Chargers a 1 to 0 lead after 2 periods. Cooper Gerhardt and Gunnar Birmingham assisted on the goals.

The Chargers increased their lead at 9:47 of the third period when Tyler Lawrence tipped in a shot from Westin Reinig to put the Chargers up 2 to 0. Mason Czarnecki also drew the assist. Goalie Nick Kurtiak preserved the 2 goal lead the rest of the way and made 19 saves for the game recording another shutout.

Powers Catholic will begin the 2021 MHSAA playoffs Wednesday when they travel to Midland to face Big Rapids in the Regionals. The Chargers will be looking to avenge a 2019 loss to Big Rapids in the Regionals.
