Powers Wins First Game of Regionals 8-0

POWERS CATHOLIC CRUISES BY BIG RAPIDS IN REGIONAL SEMIFINAL 8 TO 0

The Chargers opened up their 2021 playoff run by travelling to Midland to face the Big Rapids Cardinals.

The Chargers took control early as Nolan Salayko put a wrist shot past the Cardinal goalie just 1:39 into the game, assist on the goal went to Jaques Lavrack. 4:30 later, Trey Carlock converted a pass from Salayko to put the Chargers were up to 2 to 0. Mason Cznarnicki also assisted on the goal.

The Chargers scored 4 second period goals, Eddie Babieri, Lavrack, Brenden Tarpening, and Michael Tucker all scored with assists going to Kyle Barbour, Tarpening, Cooper Gerhardt, Luke Cramer, on the goals as the Chargers took a 6 to 0 lead into the second intermission.

Kyle Barbour scored a powerplay goal 1:50 into the 3rd period to make the Charger lead 7 to 0. Tyler Lawrence and Lavrack assisted on the goal. Cooper Gerhard ended the game with just under 7 minutes to play. Jack Dawley assisted as well Lavrack, who picked up his 3rd assist of the game. The Chargers outshot the Cardinals 33 to 10. Nick Kurtiak played the first 2 periods and Peyton Lenger played the 3rd period to preserve the playoff shutout.

The Chargers head back to Midland March 19th to face Midland Dow in a rematch of last years Regional Final. The Chargers got the best of Midland Dow earlier this year 2 to 1.
