Seven different players scored Saturday at the Saginaw Heritage Showcase to help Flint Powers Catholic defeat Kingsford 7-1.

After capturing a 2-1 lead after the opening period, Powers Catholic scored four goals in the second period to take a 6-1 lead.

“The good thing about this team is that we don’t rely on one guy,” Powers Catholic coach Travis Perry said, whose team improved to 6-2 overall.

Mike Forman, Brendan Smith and Spencer Owen each scored a goal and recorded two assists to lead the Powers Catholic offense.

Garret Gormley, Connor Owen, Dan Delong and Riley Hart each added a goal for the Chargers.

Austin Kane made 14 saves in-goal for Powers Catholic.

“I think our defense did well today,” Perry said. “Anytime you give up 20 shots, it’s a good game.

“We’re happy with this win going into break, and hopefully we can keep the momentum going into the new year.”

Marcus Andrews scored the only goal for Kingsford on the day.

Powers Catholic matches up with Macomb Dakota on Dec. 27.
