Garrett Gormley and Mike Forman had two goals apiece as Flint Powers easily won a non-league showdown with Big Rapids, 8-0, on Friday at Iceland Arena.

Flint Powers (17-6 overall) scored three times in the first seven minutes of the second period, and that enabled the team to pull ahead.

"That was really important," Flint Powers coach Travis Perry said. "Teams usually try to feel each other out in the first period. In the second we moved our feet better and came out with a lot of opportunities. We still need to do well on special teams."

Flint Powers has won nine of its last 10 games going into a contest Wednesday against Saginaw Heritage.

Riley Start, Spencer Owen, Alex Broadworth and Jeff Polakowski all had individual goals for Flint Powers. Spencer Owen, Connor Owen, Stefan Cramer and Derek Simon each had two assists.

Austin Kane turned back all 8 shots he faced to pick up the shutout.
