WOW… Powers and Davison icers thrilled a full house at the Polar Palace Wednesday night with an overtime classic between two Saginaw Valley Conference leaders. Luke Evo scored his second goal of the night, for the boys, midway through the overtime session to thwart a late Davison rally 4-3.

Evo started off the scoring for the Chargers at the 10:44 mark of the first period followed by a Cam Conover goal putting the Chargers up 2-0. Davison’s Gage Thrall responded minutes later with a goal of his own putting the Cardinals on the board and chipping into the Powers lead. Sam Palmeter notched a shorthanded goal for Davison tying the score at 2-2. Christian Wentworth answered for the Chargers with a Power Play goal ending the second period with the Chargers up 3-2.

In the third period the goal tending at both ends remained solid (Adam Cantley – Powers, Noah Hall – Davison) as each team found it difficult to get the puck across the goal line. Powers was issued a penalty with 24 seconds to go in the contest on a questionable call resulting a face off in their own zone and a 6 on 4 situation as Davison pulled their goalie. Davison’s Dylan McMullen wasted no time by grabbing the loose puck off the faceoff in front of the Powers goal and scoring sending the game into overtime.

Luke Evo cut the Davison celebration short at 3:13 of the overtime as cut to the slot and ripped a snap shot past the Davison net minder and ending the contest 4-3.

Flint Powers continues their busy schedule when they head to Sault Ste. Marie Friday to take on Marquette Redmen and Sault High Blue Devils in the Lions Cup Hockey Showcase January 19th – January 20th.
